This time of year is steeped with Pagan festivals; one of the first we celebrate as the days grow shorter is Harvest. Divine law pays us a visit at harvest time; it’s a time for us to reap what we sow, not just for the farmers but also for us as spiritual beings. So let us all hope that the seeds we planted this spring were planted with kindness, tolerance and Love. When we plant our seeds this way, we do so in accordance with God’s law because he is all of these things, if we plant our seeds with a hard and stubborn heart then we make our own punishments. God’s law and mans law where created with the same purpose to hold a balance. God’s sounds a simple one, too love one another, but how hard can that single law be? Especially when we meet someone who we think is the most awful person on the planet? But some where that person has a light that shines within, so find it and hold on to it and love them for this. For when we go home it wont be mans law that we have to answer too its Gods law. Galatians and Romans both tell us that no one can be made right by mans laws. For the scriptures say “the righteous shall live by faith” Man as time has passed has forgotten this and made mans laws more important than Gods, this is why our father sent his son to walk with us and remind us how to love one another and walk in faith. Maybe a good example of this would be the parable of Lazarus and the rich man told to us by Luke. The rich man thought he was doing right in accordance with mans laws by allowing Lazarus to the scraps from under his table, but if ere to obey Gods law would you have let Lazarus share your table and eat your food? Back to our pagan festivals ‘All Hallows Eve’ celebrated now for fun or for the darkness it represents, we place pumpkins around our homes to brings us protection for the dark forces that walk amongst us this hallows eve. But one of the reasons this festival first began was to say good bye to the summer and light nights, and to greet the winter and the dark nights. On the heel of all hallows is ‘All Saints Day’, celebrated in different ways by different religions, this day commemorates the departed faithful who have not yet been purified and haven’t made it too heaven, it’s a day too remember and pray for those who passed. To read their names aloud in Church and light a candle. Both days off light to the dark, Albert Einstein is quoted to have said “darkness is the absence of light”, darkness is the term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light, if we light a candle in a cave, the light will seek to illuminate every nook and cranny, this is what Gods light does to our soul. God helps us too shine bright and shine our little light into the darkness we have brought to ourselves. Remember too keep your light shining bright and walk in love.
